What inspection should be carried out for straight welded steel pipes before leaving the factory
Before leaving the factory, straight-seam steel pipes need to undergo a series of strict inspections to ensure that their quality meets the standards and meet the needs of various application scenarios.
The first is the appearance inspection. Inspectors will look at the surface of the steel pipe carefully with the naked eye or with simple tools. The surface of steel pipe should be smooth and level, and there must be no cracks, scars, folds, delamination and other defects. Even tiny scratches, pits or bumps may cause problems in subsequent use, so it is necessary to record them in detail and determine whether they meet the standards.
Followed by size inspection. In this step, the key dimensions such as outer diameter, wall thickness and length of steel pipe are accurately measured. The outside diameter and wall thickness need to be measured by professional measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers, to ensure that the deviation is within the range specified in the standard. In terms of length, it is necessary to ensure that it meets the requirements of customers and meets the general standards of the industry, so as to avoid the installation and use being affected by the size discrepancy.

Then there is the performance test. This includes mechanical property inspection. Through tensile test, bending test, impact test, etc., the tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, bending performance and impact toughness of steel pipe are measured to determine whether it has enough strength and toughness to bear the load in use. There are also process performance tests, such as flattening test and flaring test, to evaluate the adaptability of steel pipes during processing. In addition, for straight-seam steel pipes used in specific fields, special inspection is needed, such as water pressure test or air tightness test for steel pipes used for conveying fluids to test their sealing performance and prevent leakage.
Only through this series of comprehensive and strict inspections can the straight-seam steel pipes leave the factory smoothly and provide reliable basic materials for various industries.
