How does submerged arc welding work
Submerged arc welding, as an important welding process, plays a key role in Hebei Huayang Steel Pipe Company. The following is a detailed introduction to the working principle and process of submerged arc welding in our company.
First of all, submerged arc welding is a mechanized welding method using electric arc as heat source. Before welding begins, we will carry out strict pretreatment on the base material of the steel pipe to be welded, including cleaning up impurities such as oil stain and rust on the surface to ensure the welding quality.
In the welding process, we will use special granular flux to evenly cover the welded joints to form a thick flux layer. This layer of flux is like a protective barrier, which can not only isolate the air and prevent oxygen and nitrogen in the air from invading the welding pool, so as to avoid defects such as porosity and cracks in the weld metal; It can also effectively reduce the loss of arc heat in the welding process and improve the welding efficiency.

At the same time, our automatic welding equipment will continuously feed the light welding wire under the flux layer through the wire feeding mechanism, and ignite the arc with the base metal of the steel pipe. The high temperature generated by the arc instantly melts the welding wire and base metal locally, forming a welding pool. Under the action of electric arc, the surrounding flux will also partially melt, forming slag to cover the surface of the molten pool, further protecting the molten pool, and carrying out metallurgical treatment on the weld metal to remove harmful impurities and improve the mechanical properties of the weld.
With the welding equipment moving at a uniform speed along the welding joint, the molten pool keeps moving forward, and the metal in the molten pool at the back gradually cools and solidifies under the protection of flux and slag, forming a dense and high-quality weld. During the whole welding process, our technicians will closely monitor the welding parameters, such as welding current, welding voltage and welding speed, to ensure the stability of the welding process and the consistency of welding quality.
Submerged arc welding has been widely used in the steel pipe production of Hebei Huayang Steel Pipe Company because of its high efficiency and high quality. By constantly optimizing the welding technology and equipment, we ensure that the welding quality of each steel pipe can reach high standards and provide reliable products for customers.
