Development of welded steel pipe output
At the beginning of the founding of New China, the output of welded pipes in China was only 0.4 million tons, and in 1978, it was 866,200 tons. After 1980s, the output of welded pipes entered a rapid development stage. In 1986, the output of welded pipes exceeded 2 million tons, reaching 2,293,700 tons. After that, the output fluctuated into the 1990s, and the output of welded pipes showed a rapid growth again, reaching 4.32 million tons in 1994, surpassing the United States and Russia, ranking first. China's economy was also affected by the Asian financial crisis in 1998, and the output of welded pipes decreased greatly. Since the 21st century, the output of welded pipes has increased rapidly. In 2002, the output of welded pipes in China reached 6.615 million tons, surpassing Japan and becoming the largest welded pipe producer in the world. After that, the growth momentum of China's welded pipe output was unstoppable. In 2004, the welded pipe output reached 13.406 million tons, exceeding the world record of 12.77 million tons maintained by the Soviet Union in 1988. In 2009, the welded pipe output exceeded 30 million tons. In 2015, the output of welded pipes reached a historical peak of 69.3959 million tons, accounting for 63.1% of the world's welded pipe output.
Since 2016, with the adjustment of economic structure, the transformation of economic development mode and the backward elimination of production capacity in the steel industry, the output of welded pipes has dropped below 60 million tons, and in 2018, the output of welded pipes was 48.3724 million tons.
